Hi Everyone,
Still recovering from “Launch Week” so just a few quick hits today.
Book Update
My book Zen and the Art of Coaching Basketball is available on Amazon here.
If you’d like to support my work, please buy a copy. It’s $3.99 for the ebook, $7.99 for the paperback, and $16.99 for the hardcover.
By the way, sales were split equally between ebook and print. Who says books are dead?
The book hit #1 in several categories including “Basketball Coaching” for most of the week, ahead of Phil Jackson, who was an inspiration for me.
A journalist friend of mine gave me Jackson’s email address and I emailed him a copy of the PDF. He emailed back twenty minutes later with some nice thoughts about meditation. It felt like a full circle moment in a way, a person who inspired me to both try meditation and try a different way of coaching receiving my book with kindness. It was the second best part of Launch Week.
The best part was sending the book to the guys, the Blue Devils.
The main “character” in the book is Sepo, the star point guard and leader of the team.
Sepo messaged me after I sent him the book. I told him he was the star. Here is our exchange:
Coffee & Pens did a nice write-up of the book here.
As did Box Score Geeks here.
And it was a blast talking the book and travel on The Mike Safo Podcast (Apple/Spotify).
Again, you can buy it here. Okay, that’s all for the book…
Three Tweets You May Have Missed
I’m taking two improv classes through Squirrel Comedy Theater. It’s the highlight of my week.
Here’s an easy framework for success that I use for most of my projects.
Finally, Trent Dilfer models traditional coaching.
That’s all for today. Look for my interview with Washington Post reporter Kent Babb, author of what I think is the best book of the year, Across the River, on Thursday.
Cheers,
Ben
