Time to roll into All-Star Break…
Block Party
I’m working on a video for next week about the greatness of LeBron James.
Similar to my video about Chris Paul, in the LeBron video I’m going to analyze four plays from each of the four quarters of the epic 2016 CLE/GSW Game Seven.
“The Block” is not one of the plays I’m going to analyze (I’m looking at more under the radar, “thumb on the scale of winning,” plays) but I couldn’t help myself and put together a separate three minute video breakdown of the block.
There’s not much that hasn’t been said or analyzed about this play.
However, the video is about one aspect I noticed at the time and that I’ve only heard discussed one time since (I think from ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst on one of his podcast episodes).
When LeBron goes up to block Iguodala’s shot he’s not sure if Iggy will shoot right-handed or do a reverse left-handed layup.
As LeBron is in mid-air he prepares to block either shot with either hand.
Read that again.
As LeBron is in mid-air he prepares to block either shot with either hand.
Spectacular.
We’re all here because we love basketball. Regardless of what team you support, who your favorite player is, or where you stand on the MJ/Bron debate, as a fan of the game all you can do is appreciate the athleticism, intelligence, and grace of this play.
Also, at 2:30, the looks on the faces of the Cavs players on the sideline…
Enjoy (and, if you don’t want your veggies, only dessert, click here to skip to the 2:39 mark).
I’ll try to speak a little faster in my future videos :-)
Karen Sighting
Speaking of LeBron James, he had this tweet recently about Karen, I mean Kelly, Loeffler…
The link takes you to an article by the excellent progressive reporter Dave Zirin (who’s Edge of Sports podcast I can’t recommend enough).
Key graf (emphasis mine):
Montgomery says her inspiration to try to be a part of purchasing the team came from LeBron James himself… After the purchase, James tweeted congratulations, writing, “So proud of this Queen. This is everything we are about! #Morethananathlete.” But this moment is not about LeBron. It’s about Renee Montgomery, and the slogan that guides her work: “Moments equal momentum.”
Moments equal momentum…
Let’s end there :-)
Have a great day out in the sim…
