Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all doing well as we move into the season of pumpkin patches and pumpkin-spice lattes.
Couple of updates for you today…
Book Update
Well, the book is done. Was sent for copy-edit today.
It’s a little emotional. I worked so hard on it, spent so much time thinking about it, consciously and un-consciously, and now… it’s done.
It will be available for purchase on Amazon on Monday, November 1st.
Here’s the cover:
It’s about the power of meditation and how meditation can improve learning and performance in all areas of life, including sports :-)
It’s my journey from an angry, scared, reactive basketball coach to a calm, caring, mindful one.
It’s covers my time in Namibia as a Peace Corps Volunteer, as a teacher and coach in Mississippi, and, my journey back to Namibia where I started and coached the Blue Devils Basketball Club.
I’m looking for a few “advanced readers” who can read the book ahead of time and write a short review to post on Amazon the day my book goes live.
Please reply if you are interested. No compensation but you do get a free copy :-)
I’ll be promoting the book a bit as we get closer to November 1st. I hope you’ll buy a copy :-)
September’s Most Popular
My most popular posts from September.
My most popular Tweet was this one, which references my recent interview with Scott Williams:
The “Carolina Family” runs deep.
My most popular podcast episode last month, with 528 downloads, was “Remembering Jasper Johnson,” a player I coached in Hollandale, Mississippi.
In the episode, four former teammates and I talk about Jasper, about head coach George Willis, and about our championship season. It’s niche but a great episode.
Here’s a funny snippet of the convo:
And here’s the full video:
By the way, the name of the team: Blue Devils :-)
And, speaking of Blue Devils, my most popular photo on Instagram was this one, a photo of the team (in Namibia) and me after an important playoff game (no spoiler), edited with the Prisma app:
That’s all for today.
I hope, wherever you are, you are doing well.
Cheers,
Ben
